Canadian Gov’t favors French Speakers
September 12, 2014—Winnipeg—Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander met with stakeholders and community leaders in Winnipeg to discuss how the government can increase Francophone immigration to Canada.
During the meetings, Alexander committed to launch consultations in the upcoming months that will aim to increase the number of Francophone immigrants settling in Francophone communities outside Quebec and strengthen the vitality and vibrancy of these communities. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will work with provinces and territories, Francophone communities and employers to ensure the successful integration of Francophone immigrants who choose to make Canada their home.
Group of Five Campaign (G5C) is five or more Canadian citizens or permanent residents who want to arrange to sponsor a refugee(s) living abroad to come to Canada. All of the group members must be at least 18 years of age and live or have representatives in the area where the refugee will settle.
Quebec has announced new rules regarding applications for a Certificat de sélection du Québec submitted under the province’s Investor Program. The announcement was made by the provincial government’s immigration ministry on August 27 in a Gazette Officielle du Québec.
