Introduction to Trades Essential Skills Pre-Employment Program

FreeThe Employment Skills Access Program at Douglas College provides TUITION-FREE group based training for unemployed individuals who need to upgrade their skills in order to get employed, who have not established an Employment Insurance claim in the past three years, or five years in the case of maternity/parental leave.
This six (6) week program (Monday through Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm) is designed to prepare individual participants with a solid base of knowledge about workplace safety. The program will open participants to entry-level or re-entry positions in trades helpers, construction laborer and helpers.
ITT program is innovative and provides learners with essential skills prerequisites for success in safety and industry training. Upon completion, participants will have demonstrated proficiency in essential skills to advance with additional trades and industry training, and includes 60 hours of transitional support. Earn (8) Safety & Industry Certifications:- Boom Lift & Scissor Arial Lift Certificates
- Confined Space
- Lockout Awareness
- Fall Protection
- Occupational Level 1 First Aid
- World Host Customer Service Training
- WHMIS
- Douglas College Certificate of Completion
- Submit “ESA Participant Eligibility Screening Form“
- Submit a current resume
- Be Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have valid Government issued photo identification
