SUMMARY:School-Age Child Care Certificate (SACC) Program
DESCRIPTION:The Employment Skills Access Program at Douglas College provides TUITION-FREE group based training for unemployed individuals who need to upgrade their skills in order to get employed\, who have not established an Employment Insurance claim in the past three years\, or five years in the case of maternity/parental leave.  \nThe focus of this program is on licensed group school-age child care\, but it is also relevant for people working in family child care\, children’s recreation programs and in school settings as Supervision Aides. Themes throughout each course include program planning\, behaviour management\, safety and supervision\, and communication skills.  \n \nCore Program Courses are as follows: \n\nSix (6) Required Courses (24 hours each)\n\n100% attendance required\n\n	Introduction to School-Age Child Care \n	Working with Five-Year Olds \n	Working with Six to Eight Year-Olds \n	Working with Nine to Twelve Year-Olds\n	Leadership and Organizational Skills\n	Working with Children Who Need Extra Support\n\nDouglas College Credential: \n\n	School-Age Child Care Certificate (SACC)
