SUMMARY:Oil & Gas Essential Skills Pre-Employment Program
DESCRIPTION:The Employment Skills Access Program at Douglas College provides TUITION-FREE group based training for unemployed individuals who need to upgrade their skills in order to get employed\, who have not established an Employment Insurance claim in the past three years\, or five years in the case of maternity/parental leave. \nThis four (4) week program (Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 3:00pm) is designed to orient students to and prepare prospective employees for in-demand work opportunities in drilling and service rig work crews in the oil and gas industry. The program provides the participant with a comprehensive introduction to the industry\, as well as essential skills prerequisites for success in safety in the workplace. Common job titles include: Floorhand\, Leasehand\, Rotary Helper\, Field Workers\, Derrickhand\, Motorhand\, various operators and trades.\n \nTo begin registration process:\n\n	Submit “ESA Participant Eligibility Screening form”\n	Submit a current resume\n	\nBe Legally entitled to work in Canada\n	\nHave valid Government issued photo identification (BC DL\, BC ID\, Permanent Resident Card and/or Canadian Passport)\n\nEntrance Requirement: \n\n\n	\nCompletion of TOWES (Test of Workplace Essential Skills) assessment\n	\nBasic Computer Skills\n	\nGood Health and Physical Capacity\n\nEarn (7) Safety & Industry Certifications:  \n\n\n	\nH2S Alive\n	\nOccupational Level 1 First Aid\n	\nFall Protection\n	\nPetroleum Safety Training & WHMIS\n	\nDetection and Control of Flammable Substances\n	\nTransportation of Dangerous Goods\n	\nGlobal Ground Disturbance\n	\nDouglas College Certificate of Completion
