Construction Essential Skills Safety Pre-Employment Program

FreeThe Employment Skills Access Program provides TUITION-FREE group based training for unemployed individuals who need to upgrade their skills in order to get employed, who have not established an Employment Insurance claim in the past three years, or five years in the case of maternity/parental leave.
This four (4) week program is designed to prepare individuals with safety training for entry or re-entry employment in the Trades and Construction sectors in general labour, warehouse or traffic control flagging occupations to fill the labour and skills shortages currently in demand.
The program is comprised of industry specific essential skills, comprehensive introduction to the Construction industry and safety training that is required to prepare for successful completion of industry certifications.
To begin registration process:

Submit “ESA Participant Eligibility Screening Form”

Submit a current resume

Be Legally entitled to work in Canada

Have valid Government issued photo identification (BC DL, BC ID, Permanent Resident Card and/or Canadian Passport)
Earn (6) Safety & Industry Certifications:

Construction Safety Training System
-
Scissor and Arial Lift Operator Certificate

Occupational Level 1 First Aid
-
Traffic Control Person of BC (Flagging)

WHMIS Certification
-
Douglas College Certificate of Completion
