SUMMARY:Building Service Worker Program
DESCRIPTION:The Employment Skills Access Program at Douglas College provides TUITION-FREE group based training for unemployed individuals who need to upgrade their skills in order to get employed\, who have not established an Employment Insurance claim in the past three years\, or five years in the case of maternity/parental leave.  \nThis six (6) week 96 hour evening program (Monday through Thursday from 6:00pm – 10:00pm) is designed to train individuals for entry or re-entry into employment in the custodial field. Graduates will seek work in school districts\, municipalities\, long-term care facilities\, hospitals\, educational institutions\, hotels\, business offices and various industry environments.  \n \nProgram content: The program consists of both classroom and practicum setting.\n\n	\nFloor machine hands on training \n	\nBest Practices: Employability Skills\n	\nPublic Relations\n	\nSafety Practices\n	\nStandard of Detail\n	\nWashroom Procedure\n	\nOrganizational Skills Development\n	\nTheory on Cooperation\n	\nGuest Speakers\n\nRegistration process: \n\n\n	\nSubmit “ESA Participant Eligibility Screening form“\n	Submit a current resume\n	\nComplete a Canadian Literacy Assessment\n	\nBe legally entitled to work in Canada\n	Have valid Government issued photo identification (BC DL\, BC ID\, Permanent Resident Card and/or Canadian Passport)\n	\nGood Health and Physical Capacity\n\n \nEarn Industry Certifications: \n\n	\nWeller’s Building Service Worker Certificate\n	\nOccupational Level 1 First Aid\n	\nWHMIS\n	\nCopy of Student Evaluation for potential Employers\n	\nDouglas College Certificate of Completion\n\n \n*Intake appointment at Douglas College\, A1410 – 1250 Pinetree Way\, Coquitlam\, BC
